Serious problems have long been apparent for the scientific understanding of life, in particular with regards to unusual behaviors. The crisis unfolding for that understanding or vision, though, has been in the "absolutely beyond belief" failure to identify DNA bases for much of our inheritance. Without such DNA/genetic bases science’s vision of life and evolution does not work.
In parallel with such challenges are concerns about the general fallout from science’s mechanistic vision of life. That vision, herein described as the foundation of scientism, has become an intellectual juggernaut. The latter half of this book takes on that juggernaut via critical examination of some of the works of Steven Pinker and Sam Harris.
