The Vampire's Cross - Book One
by Alec John Johnson
It was late on a cold night in January. Seventeen year old Ben Haubson was driving north on Interstate 29. He was running. He was running from his abusive father. His right eye was swollen shut. His lip was cut open. His jaw pounded with pain. Enough was enough. He wasn’t going to deal with his father or his attacks anymore. Not after tonight. No, he was going to escape. He didn’t know where he was going or what he would do. He only knew that he had to get away and so he drove on.
On his first night out on his own Ben decided to sleep in his car. He didn’t mind the cramped quarters. He didn’t even mind the January cold. None of it bothered him because he had escaped his father’s grasp. He had finally escaped him. Ben drifted off to sleep in the backseat of his car with a smile on his face. Little did he know, or realize, that a new horror was waiting for him. A new horror was waiting just outside his car and once he faced this new demon he would find himself wishing that he was back home with his father.
