Sin City Goddess
by Barbra Annino
When an Underworld goddess is unleashed in Las Vegas, all Hades breaks loose.
They call me The Punisher. Because that’s my job—to punish those who have committed heinous crimes. But my official title, as one of the three Furies, is Avenger of Murder. I don’t mind it, but it’s not entirely accurate. Avenger implies vengeance, which implies personal. My job is not personal. I have no stake in the matter. Right is right and wrong is wrong. If you choose wrong and the law doesn’t discipline you, you can bet your ass that I will.
So it was never personal.
Until today.
Today I learned that my sister, Alecto, was taken. Despite being banned from the mortal realm for killing a human, the gods want to send me back to find her. Except I’m not going alone. They’re forcing me to team up with a mortal lawman whose last case was tracking similar disappearances. The man tests my every nerve and comes dangerously close to inciting my fury. And, if I’m being honest, my desire.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, a slew of demons keep getting in the way, there’s a maniac working ancient black magic, and we have to find my sister before the gateway closes on the night of the new moon—which is mere days away—or be trapped forever.
Not exactly the week I had planned. Now, if I can just suffer the scorching sun and blinding lights of Las Vegas without killing anyone—and without giving in to my temptation to both punch and kiss the lawman—we may make it out of here alive.
