It’s early summer, 1859. Remington Tremaine arrives in Virginia to attend the wedding of his oldest and dearest friend’s younger sister. The last thing he expects is to find himself attracted to a neighboring young lady who wants nothing to do with him.
Gabriella Kendrick, the young lady in question, has her hands full with problems of her own and has neither the time nor the interest for a romantic entanglement. With anyone. Not even with a gentleman as handsome and charming as Remington Tremaine, although she must admit she is tempted. But playing a major role in two extravagant weddings within the space of a few months has already interfered enough with her secret passion. A secret passion so dangerous that if her activities were to become known, it could threaten her life.
Moonie Kendrick, her stepfather and a man well-known for his cruelty, suspects Gabriella is up to something and he vows to put a stop to it. With Kendrick closing in on her, Gabriella is forced to rely on Remington to help her escape.
Will Gabriella make it to safety? Or will Moonie Kendrick’s need for vengeance against his stepdaughter destroy whatever chance Remington and Gabriella may have for a new life together?
