Cat used to believe her best friend Jake was a fairy prince.
Granted she was a kid, and had no idea what kind of jerk Jake would grow up to be. Now 17, Cat is a self-identified weirdo, and Jake’s the star of Butterfield High School’s football team. Their friendship is long over, which suits them both perfectly well. As for Jake being a fairy prince? Ha! Cat’s way over that childhood fantasy!
Life’s going just fine until Cat stumbles onto a huge secret—fairies are real alright, and they’ve been hiding in plain sight all along!
She gets thrown headfirst (perhaps more accurately she throws herself headfirst) into their fey problems. The fairies of Butterfield have been cut off from their magical world for years and are turning to desperate and nefarious means to keep all the magic they can get their hands on. And they’re definitely not going to let one puny human get in their way, despite all of Cat’s best meddlesome efforts.
Meanwhile, she's made a promise with the alluring and fey Tobias Monday that she probably shouldn't have made, she's failing Chemistry, two fairy courts are out to get her, she's been grounded for a month... and Homecoming is tomorrow!
