About to retire after 32 years, Sheriff Bill Gastner expects his last few days in office to be quiet ones. Wrong! A drunk-driving binge by a local teenager results in violent behavior and his fatal tumble into oncoming traffic. Adding to the tragedy, the boy's father is found dead in his kitchen.
